Responsibilities:

• Managing and monitoring all installed systems and infrastructure


• Installing, configuring, testing and maintaining operating systems, application software and system management tools


• Automate operational workflows to easily roll out updates to a virtual environment


• Design and implement secure, scalable, and reliable infrastructure


• Proactively ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability


• Monitor and test application performance for potential bottlenecks, identify possible solutions and work with developers to implement those fixes


• Maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies


• Write and maintain custom scripts to increase system efficiency and lower the human intervention time on any tasks


• Participate in the design of information and operational support systems


• Create and manage technical infrastructure documentation and training documents for departmental use.


• Monitor virtual infrastructure and be part of a 24x7 on-call rotation to respond to alerts.


• Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution

• Strong proven working experience in installing, configuring and troubleshooting UNIX /Linux based environments.


• Must have proven abilities to build out and manage an automated scalable production environment


• Solid experience in the administration and performance tuning of application stacks (e.g. Apache, NGINX, Ruby )


• Solid Cloud experience, preferably in AWS and Google Cloud


• Experience with virtualization and containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)


• Experience with enterprise monitoring systems


• Experience with automation software (e.g., Ansible)


• Solid scripting skills (e.g., shell scripts, Ruby)


• Solid networking knowledge (OSI network layers, TCP/IP)


• Familiar with cache layer technologies like Redis and elasticsearch


• Familiar with SQL databases such as PostgreSQL.


• Ability to document solutions and train operational teams on supportability
