Full-Time Django Engineer Interested in AI

Why we're posting this

In most projects, there's about 20% of "core" AI work and 80% of non-AI (data engineering and web development) work. Since our business is growing and our engineers are becoming a bit overqualified for some of the work, we're looking for someone who would take on the data engineering and web development part in the short term and gradually join the rest of the crew on more complicated machine learning tasks in the long term.

We're not looking for a one-off contractor nor an agency. We would like to onboard a dedicated full-time colleague who would spend the next few years with us, become an equal part of the team and will grow together with us.

The tech you'll need

- Python

- Django

- Git

- HTML/CSS/JavaScript

You will mostly

- Prepare datasets for AI training (text, images, video)

- Develop Django back-ends for AI products

- Occasionally create web app front-ends

- Set up cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP), work with Linux servers

The assumption is that if you have 1-2 years of practical experience with web development on Django, you can do all of the above (with some help at the beginning where needed, naturally).

What's important for us

- 1-2 years full-time job experience - you'll have a lot of freedom from the get-go, so it's important that you have already gained confidence in a real day job, working in a dev team.

- Advanced English - communication is everything, and we need to make sure nothing important is "lost in translation". Also, we'll occasionally need you on a call with a US client, so your English should be professional enough for that.

- Personality and fit - we're looking for someone who is, above all, self-motivated. We don't require a university degree, but you need to be able to "get your PhD on Google", so to speak. Team spirit is also crucial - the ability to play with the band is more important than a cool solo.

It's great if you're close Central European time zone (GMT+1) so we can have a substantial working hours overlap.

Although this is a primarily remote position, we're looking forward to seeing you in person as soon as the current lockdowns ease a little bit!
