Senior Backend Engineer

We're looking to hire someone to own our backend systems, APIs, and architecture. Over the past few months, we've simplified our product, rebuilt most of the architecture, and we're ready for someone to take ownership of the final phase and beyond.

We are a small, product-focused team and we like to ship quickly, talk with customers, and take an iterative approach to product development.

You will be great for this role if you:

  • Have worked at an early-stage startup before and understand components of the stack that need to be architected thoroughly vs. features that should be rapidly prototyped. This trade-off is key. Ideally, you can switch gears quickly.

  • Get excited about building scalable, yet simple architecture. We aren't trying to cure cancer here.

  • Have experience working with third-party APIs. The future of the product involves integrating with project management tools and allowing users to pull in the units of work with regular updates.

  • Have DevOps experience. You shouldn't be nervous about spending time in AWS configuring docker, CI, etc.

  • Have worked remotely before and understand the benefits and drawbacks to asynchronous communication.

Ruby/Rails, GraphQL, React, AWS, Postgres
