QA and Automation Engineer

As a QA engineer, we hope you strive to:


  • Work independently and with other engineers to develop new user experience-focused web applications, and provide support for existing systems.

  • Have the ability to work on multiple parts of a web application, from internal backend APIs to dynamic frontend interfaces.

  • Collaborate with designers, front-end specialists, other engineers, stakeholders, and clients to understand business goals, analyze requirements, formulate solutions, and ensure the successful execution and delivery of the end product using the best technologies.

  • Assist in scoping, estimating, and planning of projects.

  • Participate in pairing, and other forms of knowledge sharing.

  • Support of production applications may be required on some projects.

  • Mentor and help others grow and make an impact

  • Develop a full understanding of the product and use that understanding to discover defects and improvements

  • Thoroughly explore product changes and component interactions to uncover unintended side-effects



Experience and Skills we are looking for:


  • Candidate must be able and willing to work in the following time zones: Eastern Standard Time, Central Standard Time, Mountain Standard Time, and/or Pacific Standard time

  • 5+ years with exploratory testing, documenting use cases, and becoming a product expert

  • 2+ years experience with BDD, and TDD, Selenium UI testing, writing test cases for API's

  • 5+ years experience debugging complex code using debugging tools such as: Console, Developer Tools, XDebug

  • Experienced at avoiding and resolving false negatives and false positives

  • Strong dynamic or strictly typed OOP skills including any C++ style server side languages and Javascript

  • Excellent written and oral communicator

  • Nice to have, but not fully required experience:






    • Previous remote working experience

    • Working with CI / CR tools like: gitlab ci, jenkins, circleci, SauceLabs, Code Coverage, Code Deploy

    • Systems administration: LAMP, Docker, Vagrant, Bash

    • Previous experience helping establish a testing mindset throughout the implementation process from planning to release

    • Working on web applications that process large volumes of data and/or receive high volumes of traffic
