Head of Engineering Role

Our Head of Engineering owns the technology, tech operations, technology partner management and the open source technical working groups.  You should have experience in scaling technology and organizations, be able to get your hands dirty out of the gate but be willing and able to operate at a more strategic level as the business grows. You should be able to represent and explain technology and standards to investors, partners and customers.



Perhaps most importantly, you are aligned with our vision to overcome the misinformation epidemic.



Roles and responsibilities:

• Own the tech and the people that build our products


• Work with our partners to understand what we are doing, why we are doing it and how we are going to do it.


• Develop and manage KPIs for technology


• Strong focus on security, data privacy and standards


• Build out working group activities and structure multi-stakeholder development


• Work with employer and partner stakeholders to explain the technology, principles and approach


• Participate and influence open source product development


• Given our early stage, you should be comfortable with ambiguity


• Sit on the company's leadership team, reporting into the CEO

• Proactive and positive attitude with ability to own projects


• Experience and passion for building open source code and standards


• Experience building and managing Kubernetes infrastructure on AWS.


• Passionate about writing clean, well tested, and maintainable code


• Experience with open source and standards organization


• Experience with AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform, Jenkins / CircleCI


• Keen eye for doing things consistently, maintaining a clean architecture and making it possible for our development team to iterate and deploy quickly and smoothly.

• Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering or a related technical field from a top-notch university


• Minimum 5 years of Engineering leadership/ tech architect experience in well renowned enterprise


• Deep technology expertise in analytics, open source development and data standards


• Highly quantitative, analytical and business-minded. Ability to solve complex engineering problems in an organized and structured way.


• Strong organization and planning skills. Ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple projects without compromising results.


• Superior communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to communicate effectively with senior executives.


• Must be self-directed, able to work independently, as well as work with different teams in a fast paced environment. Experience at a start-up or in a scrappy, fast-moving culture is a must.


• High energy, positive can-do attitude with a willingness to do what it takes to get things done

• Cloud computing experience, Amazon Web Services (AWS)


• Proficiency with data extract, transform, and load (ETL) processes with a variety of data types and data storage systems (e.g., AWS S3, PostgreSQL, Hadoop)


• Familiarity with deep learning algorithms and libraries (e.g., Tensorflow)


• Experience with Google Dialogflow and Amazon Comprehend will be a plus


• Experience implementing machine learning algorithms such as support vector machines, decision trees, logistic regression, clustering, neural networks, graphical models etc.
