Description

This Project also comprises of modernization from RPG to JAVA web application using new Java Technologies. The initial transformation is carried out by modernization tool like XDB Tool. Challenge is to write up code for CL program in DB level with the same functionality as in RPG, tweak the code to make it in runnable state and also provide implementation for unknown scenarios. Mostly involve in transformation of CL Program in Java with the same functionality as in IBMi as well as DB.

Also we deeply support to application development Team to understand the code at DB level and interaction to according.

Second part of this project was the report generation. In which RPG code, should be convert to oracle DB level code as same IBMi.

The Department of Excise and Taxation, Government of Punjab, looks after the activities of Excise, Value Added Tax and other commercial taxes in the state. The Project aims at improving the existing IT infrastructure for facilitating all types of department activities as part of the VAT/ Excise administration, thereby facilitating all the concerned stakeholders. By using Technology as a key element of citizen service delivery and Identification of various e-Governance initiatives that can alter the way services are delivered has been the cornerstone of all recommendations for the proposed Project.

As a lead, I have handled some critical Module of this application for Punjab government like Dealer Registration, Returns Processing, Payments, Refunds, ICC (Information Collection center) and specially Excise module.

I have implemented and run successfully excise policy, VAT, Return, ICC refund module etc.

Description

Implemented and developed the application for the data migration & synchronization between old application (COVIS) and new Wipro application (COTIS) in real time. These applications communicate between two different data base and different business logic application and provide the real time data in both application as per logic and requirement. So that both applications can be run parallel.

That task was very challenging which had accepted by me, and post completion of that task I got an appreciation for this from Punjab government. I had developed and design the oracle application framework in a very less time. Which provide the mechanism to communicate both database in real time and both application user can get the real information and had work on the parallel in both application.

Developing COVIS (Computerization of VAT Information System) for ETTSA, Patiala (Punjab).This application is designed for VAT System. This application covered 20 different modules: TSO, Person Management, Returns, Annual Statement, Assessment, Recovery of Arrears, Appeals to appellate authority, Refund, Treasury, ICC, Forms Inventory Management, Entertainment, Public Account Committee, Excise, Audit, Casual Traders, Revision, Rectification of mistakes, Determination of Disputed Question and Investigation. 10 (Ten) modules (Global, Front Window, Dealer Management, ICC and Treasury, Return, Assessment, Refund, Arrear and Excise) out off 20 modules are implemented and running successfully, All modules are integrated. Head Office and all District Offices and ICC’s are linked through leased-lines and V-SAT to a central RISC server. Nearly 1000 users of the system at 92 locations access central server.

A COVIS application is designed and developed in client/server architecture. Applications is deployed on application server the database (oracle 9i) lying on different database server. COVIS application runs in CITRIX environment. Each user access its own modules as per there privileges. Application is designed in D2k (Forms 6i, Reports 6i).

As a Sr. Developer, during this tenure i have participate in many application development and maintenance which were assigned to me by client. Like e-Excise, ICC, E-Filing (VAT Return) etc.
