NBN Co – The National Broadband Network wishes to establish a Fibre to the Premises (FTTP)

network using Passive Optical Network (PON) and point-to-point technologies capable of

supporting its desired wholesale open access operating model over an operating life of several

decades. This will be complemented by wireless and satellite network solutions to service

locations where it is not feasible to deploy the FTTP network.

Murali Kukati

The Physical Network Inventory (PNI) platform supports the end-to-end business processes of

planning, designing, constructing and operating a nation-wide broadband network made up of a

combination of Fibre to the Premise (FTTP), Wireless and Satellite coverage, Copper and HFC.

The system will have the capability to model all passive and active physical network

components. NBN Co has established a Platform model to drive the delivery of its required

OSS/BSS application portfolio. A platform in this context is defined as an application or a tightly

integrated group of applications that deliver a highly aligned set of business functions in the

overall portfolio. These systems are managed to a single coherent technical roadmap, and the

platform team provides full lifecycle management for the systems in the platform.

NBN Physical Network Inventory (Project One) – Melbourne, Australia (Aug 2017 – July 2019)

Murali performed the Lead Engineer role from onshore around 2 years. The responsibilities

included as below:

• Managed End to End PNI Agile delivery for all PI’s from Network engineering portfolio.

• Led backlog grooming, Sprint Planning, estimations & resource management to meet

the successful delivery of PI capabilities.

• Performed technical feasibility for functional designs and provided architectural

improvements, design and integration solutions.

• Focused on conducting requirement estimations, design, coding, testing,

implementation, and release management.

• Played automation test role and implemented regression test suit for iPACT platforms

using selenium and ride framework.

• Developed unit test automation framework for PNI Custom tools using python.

• Played PNI Test lead role and prepared test plans, test cases and executions.

• Optimized an existing delta interface using a combination of data volume partitions and

multi-threaded approach which improved the performance by a factor of 8 and

minimised data integration gaps for consuming systems.

• Proactively worked in PNI ASM team to triage high critical issues.

NBN Physical Network Inventory – Melbourne, Australia (Nov 2012 – May 2016), Bangalore

(January 2012 – October 2012 & June 2016 – August 2017)

Murali performed the role of techno-functional lead on development and support from onshore

for more than 3 years. The responsibilities included:

• Played the role of techno-functional lead for PNI custom applications and STORM

Services.

• Building relationships with business stakeholders to identify functional requirements,

develop specifications, and create solution strategies.

• Focused on design, build, application prototype development, testing, implementation,

and release management.

• Involved in trouble shooting the production issues and providing strategic solutions.

• Written and maintaining functional, technical documentation and System work

instructions for end users

• Managed a team of developers and testers to build the integration platform in onshore-

offshore model.

Description:

The Telecommunication Revenue Interactive Management System (TRIMS) is a powerful application that enables SBC to monitor bad debts/un-collectibles. TRIMS present’s a solution for attaining the company strategy to reduce net bad debt and simultaneously provides added benefit by retaining customers on the SBC network, whose local service would potentially have been denied or disconnected due to unpaid Inter-Exchange Carrier (IXC) long distance charges and intra-late toll.

TRIMS monitor the customer’s balance by processing records from the switch, uncollected messages, payments, claims, and other adjustments that potentially increase or decrease a customer’s balance. This balance is referred as the customer bucket and it is the primary objective of TRIMS to deny the customer toll abilities once the bucket surpasses a pre-established limit. Once an account is TRIMS restricted, it will continue to monitor the balance. When the balance or (bucket) drops below a pre-determined point, TRIMS will reestablish the customer’s toll abilities.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Involved in the Low-level Design, Development and Unit testing of an Application.
  • Involved in application migration into AIX 5.3
  • Handled customer issues
