Responsibilities:

DB Creation and Management

• 100% uptime of the databases
• Create database clusters having disaster recovery capabilities and VPC peering across the infrastructure
• Manage access, encryption and credential management
• Setup monitoring and alerting on the database infrastructure
• Take proactive actions to mitigate issues that trigger the alerts
• Manage patches and implement best practices
• Ensure minimal database downtime, backup data and recovery of data
• Setup database optimal performance

Best practices for Database usage

• Document database policies, procedures and standards, and ensure they are followed by the team
• Train team members on usage of database and the type of queries being used
• Organize tests and evaluations regularly to ensure data security, privacy and integrity
• Run optimized data migrations

Code

• Ensure database connections and encryptions are properly done in code
• Setup repository layers using ORMs
• Review migration scripts and ensure they are run properly
• Create POCs to use new databases/services of databases

Database Administrator requirements are:

• 2+ years' experience working on a Database Administrator position
• Fundamentals of databases like indexing, CAP Theorem, Transactions and database queries
• Solid experience with recovery, security, integrity, performance and monitoring
• Good knowledge of database design, schema, documentation and coding
• Knowledge of Nodejs
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to perform in crisis situations
• Experience with MongoDB, MySql, PostgreSQL, Cassandra
