Job Description for Sr. Backend Developer

TSB Media Venture is looking for a Backend Developer for our flagship product, ConsCent. The ideal candidate should not only be proficient with NodeJS, MongoDB, and AWS or other cloud platforms. He should be a good team player who doesn’t shy away from solving problems. The candidate will take responsibility for translating design and business needs into websites without sacrificing code health.

You need to be an excellent communicator, passionate about new technologies and scalable services. You should love taking up challenges like a leader, think like an innovator, and be curious enough to solve problems using technology. At times, we work on complex problems and deal with ambiguity. But, we never lose focus of the fact that great ideas need to be developed into products that can work on a massive scale.

Your Responsibilities

Iteratively build and develop ConsCent (a SaaS-based payment product)

• Review code and establish best practices
• Take responsibility of the backend NodeJS code
• Collaborate with the frontend team to integrate elements
• Work with devOps to ensure stability and scalability of deployments
• Handle the database schema and write efficient queries (MongoDB)
• Maintain a good knowledge of website architectures, stacks and suggest technological improvements where applicable

Basic Qualifications

• 1-4 years of relevant development experience.
• 1+ years of working with NodeJS
• Experience with databases, SQL or NoSQL - devising schemas and writing queries.
• Excellent troubleshooting, analytical and problem solving skills.
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field.
• Proficiency with JavaScript and belief in the superiority of TypeScript
• Working knowledge of version control.
• Experience with linux and the shell.

Preferred Qualifications

• Proven track record of building and delivering large-scale, high quality web applications.
• Experience with MongoDB and NodeJS.
• Proficiency in web application architecture - monoliths and microservice based architectures.
• Working knowledge of devOps and various AWS tools geared towards web development.
• Experience with CI/CD.
• Excellent knowledge of various tools used in web applications - caches (Redis), databases (SQL and NoSQL, elasticsearch), message queues (RMQ/ Kafka).
• Knowledge of how the web works: REST APIs, browser APIs, storage mechanisms, cookies.
• Experience with unit testing tools, Jest, Mocha.
• Working knowledge of JIRA/Trello.
• Start-up experience.
• Experience in making SAAS or B2B2C products.
