Product Designer (Web & App)

We're looking for a mid-level designer to help us build the best way to get together with friends.

The ideal candidate has helped design consumer apps and websites before, where user engagement and stickiness were primary goals of the products.

This is an open-ended contract, starting right away, with the potential to transition to a full-time member of the Morty team.

Work hours will be relatively flexible, with the expectation of 20-40 hours per week. A daily kickoff meeting will start each day (around 9am PT), and a quick review meeting will take place towards the end of each day (around 4pm PT). These meetings times can also be reversed depending on the time zone.

What you'll work on

• Develop design concepts for web and mobile applications.
• Produce wireframes of web and mobile applications.
• Create high-fidelity visual designs that are aligned with the company’s product strategy.
• Work with the product manager and architect to ensure timely delivery of high-quality assets.

Requirements

• Cares deeply about user experience and thoroughly explores potential user paths and perspectives.
• Holistic design thinking taking into account web and mobile experiences, differing user experience levels, and non-functional priorities like SEO.
• Has a high aesthetic bar, and resonates with Morty's retro-futuristic, vaporwave sensibility.
• Past experience in an early-stage company/startup.

Nice to haves

• Enthusiast of escape games, board games, haunted attractions, immersive theater, immersive art, or similar.
• Experience in the gaming industry.
• Art or illustration background.
