Front End Engineer

The Role

To execute our ambitious plan, we are seeking several key engineering people to establish the team in the UK. Our focus is just as much on attitude as it is on technical capability and we look for people with the following types of behaviours that will help drive out culture forward:

We are building a brand new team who will be responsible for building our UK Greenfield customer banking services platform from scratch, which will connect our banking services to their customers. As part of our Customer Experience team, you will be crucial in building our online banking app, redefining our customer onboarding application and developing our mission critical and rather complex UK Connect API.

With these services in place our challenge will be to supercharge the businesses growth in the UK through technology and to establish us as the go to Banking As A Service platform for fintechs in the UK. This is a truly Greenfield project so whilst we have a good idea of the

problems, we need your expertise to help us solve them correctly.

What You’ll Do

There are many ways to build a web application so our initial engineering hires will be truly instrumental in influencing our technical strategy with our future growth, scale, and security at the heart of our decision making. Things you may have to think about may include how often do we deploy our code, how do we best make use of cloud services, at what point do we consider Micro services or could another coding language better solve a challenge.

One of our biggest challenges is how we enable our platform to become truly scalable, whilst also being highly secure at the same time. Our current systems handling approx 2 million transactions per month but our focus lies on the future iteration and how we build out our platform to meet new demand within our own infrastructure.

As a software engineer it’s important that you think openly to solve problems. You’ll work within a collaborative team of cross functional people consisting of full stack front end engineers, UI/UX, Product, Cloud Infrastructure, Security and more. Your job doesn't stop when you commit our code, so it’s crucial to be thinking about how it runs in production, with close relationship with our Platform Engineers who will be running Infrastructure. As Code Our environment will also be highly Agile, transparent and cohesive as you help us to create a streamlined engineering process that’s high on efficiency.

What We Need From You

Essential

• Modern JavaScript or TypeScript
• React
• CSS, ideally SASS or Stylus
• Testing with libraries such as Jest or Mocha, or broader TDD knowledge

Nice To Have

• React Hooks or Redux
• GraphQL
• Node.js or web servers such as Express, Hapi or Koa
• Familiar with other programming languages / frameworks
• BDD
• Exposure to large scale web applications
• Appreciation for monitoring applications in production/DevOps
