JP1/ Performance Management (JP1/PFM) is a tool to measure the performance of Operating Systems and Databases. The main purpose of this product is to help the System Administrators and Database Administrators to monitor and take appropriate measures to effectively utilize the resources. JP1/PFM is a collection of software applications and consists of three layers of software applications, namely, JP1/PFM – View (the GUI layer), JP1/PFM – Manager (the middle layer), and various JP1/PFM – Agent products for applications such as HiRDB, Oracle, SQL Server, and so forth. This product stores performance data in flat files. A flat file can able to store maximum of 2GB data.

JP1/PFM – Manager manages the entire Performance Management system so that all the components of the system can work with one another. For example, this program manages the services of the Performance Management products distributed over the network, controls the alarm events to be issued from the monitored programs, manipulates performance data, and performs other necessary operations. In JP1/PFM -Manager, when alarm definition is to be performed, GUI that possessed JP1/PFM-View is used. Input of wizard format is considered to be possible by using GUI and operations like defining, bind/unbind can be performed easily. However, when multiple alarms are to be defined, it is essential to operate the operations one by one and environment construction is not easy while performing large-scale environment and complex operations. In case of JP1/PFM-View, without performing support in the AIX (07-00 onwards), only alarm operation of the restricted platform can be performed.
