Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Data Modeler to support the migration of legacy SQL databases to PostgreSQL. This role involves designing and optimizing data models, translating complex data structures, and maintaining data integrity throughout the migration lifecycle. Proficiency in SAP PowerDesigner for conceptual, logical, and physical modeling is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

• Analyze existing relational database schemas and design corresponding structures in PostgreSQL.
• Develop conceptual, logical, and physical data models using SAP PowerDesigner.
• Generate DDL scripts and maintain model-to-database traceability throughout the project.
• Collaborate with application devs and COE to understand data requirements and ensure models align with business needs and standards.
• Ensure referential integrity, normalization, and data governance standards are maintained across systems.
• Assist in data migration planning and execution, including mapping documents, data dictionaries, and transformation rules.
• Optimize models for performance and scalability in the PostgreSQL environment.
• Document models, definitions, and processes for auditing and compliance.
• Participate in code reviews and model validations with internal teams.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• 8+ years of experience in data modeling for enterprise systems.
• Proven experience with SQL database migrations to PostgreSQL.
• Proficiency in SAP PowerDesigner for data modeling.
• Strong command of SQL and PostgreSQL DDL/DML scripting.
• Understanding of normalization, denormalization, indexing, and partitioning strategies.
• Experience with data governance, metadata management, and version control.
• Familiarity with ETL/ELT processes and tools.
• Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
