Description

Telecommunications Business & Operation Support Systems (BSS/OSS) framework is a fast paced changing platform driven by the technology for delivering Voice, Data, Internet & ICT services on a singular technology platform. Aided by market competition, deregulations, bundling and un-bundling of service portfolios to streamline with niche markets are a part of the on-going cycles for Telco’s. This, in addition to the increasing need for customer retention warrants reduced lead-Times in service enablement and tighter integration between the BSS and OSS. The constant flux in business scenarios caused by communications technology advancement, product offerings and customer service processes also make imperative, the need for in-built flexibility within the deployed BSS/OSS solution.

HTCL envisions to transform into digital and lifestyle service provider serving customers across Hong Kong. To fulfil its vision HTCL is embarking on journey of organization wide digital transformation. As part of its journey, HTCL issued RFP for digital transformation of its software components to which TechM is replying as one of the vendors.

Data migration has been proposed in big bang/One time (Phase 1) and phased manner for phase II & III where based on identified migration approach and execution method, several activities are scoped and executed to ensure successful migration.

Data analysis is the first and major activity which involves Identification of DQ issues, determine criteria and scope of qualified and unqualified subscribers for migration. In phase 1, all subscribers from Mobile online(MO) brand are considered for migration, in later stages which can be treated as Phase 2 and Phase 3,migration of the subscribers of the remaining on-demand and postpaid subscribers. Phase II & III will be performed in chunks, and this would ensure the business continuity without any major impact. The target systems will be updated with static data followed by balance updates in all phases. Reconciliation activities will be performed on source and target system to certify the completeness and successful migration.
