Description

Program Manager

Responsibilities include:
~ Drive efforts to ensure Application Performance Management (APM) and Environment teams’ deliverables were accurate and timely. Included working with project managers to determine the needs for each project and lifecycle timelines/dates and allocation of resources throughout the life of the project, as well as, working with environment coordinators to ensure access to resources they required to build out environments (mainframe and distributed – code changes to COBOL/DB2/CICS/batch mainframe applications, client level JAVA code and alterations to infrastructures to accommodate new updates) for each project.
~Assigning resources to known projects and put together budget to reflect the team’s needs for calendar year 2012 and beyond. ~Implemented monthly team meetings which included overall status, training and employee recognition.

Mainframe Developer


Responsible for creating technical specifications, coding, and testing online and batch changes to the HOMEOWNERS line of

business to add the ability to automate the process to change the insurance agent assigned to a policy or group of policies.

~ Provided client w/ the capability to change a policy's assignment in Homeowners line of business as required as a part of the client's business requirements.
~ Prepared technical specs, performed coding of modules w/ 100% compliance to Nationwide's coding standards, and conducted unit testing of my code and the code of others.

~ Delivery timelines were adhered to and high quality deliverables were provided. Issues were proactively handled and escalated as needs arise.
~ Provided proper and timely status updates to supervisor and other stakeholders
~ Coded and tested batch/CICS modules that provided the client the ability to:

(a) Change a policy's insurance agent assignment,
(b) Provide historical tracking of the policy's reassignment,
(c) Alter commissions to retroactively split between the previous and current insurance agent (if required),
(d) And alter output from batch cycle processing to incorporate insurance agent transfer information in the downstream processes.

Utilized COBOL, CICS, Changeman, DB2, IBM Debugger, FILEAID, BMC Catalog Manager, etc in mainframe environment.

Mainframe Programmer/Analyst

Initially responsible for altering code for prototype and conducted unit, integration and performance tests for the prototype. Became the go to person if problems were encountered w/in the system - which included determining problem, assess/assign responsibility, and follow-up/confirm problem resolution.

Review requirements and design, code and test the requirements changes for phase 1 of Credit report retrieval system. Created technical design specifications, coded and unit tested CICS modules, and supported integration and system testing for Commercial Segmentation project to provide services to retrieve a company’s credit report information from the vendor as a part of the quote process.

~ Instrumental in providing client w/ the capability to access external vendor applications to retrieve information required as a part of the client's business requirements.
~ Prepared detailed design document, performed coding, unit/integration testing, self reviews for design documents, code and performed peer review for team deliverables.

~ Adhered to delivery timelines, creating high quality deliverables, and
provided support for system testing, release testing support.
~Go to person concerning issues encountered during unit and integration testing, responsible for assess/assign problem as well as following up to ensure problem accurately resolved.

~ Provided proper and timely status updates to supervisor and other stakeholders concerning projects progress as well as issues or risks
~ Used design tool Rational Rose for designing the artifacts which includes use case diagrams, activity diagrams, sequence diagrams, component diagrams etc..
~ Built modules in compliance with Nationwide coding standards. This system included 100% new development. Responsible for coding and unit testing for several CICS modules that provided the client the following:

(a) Designed and coded CICS modules that invoked a PCII Consumer Endpoint (CE) to access web services from an outside vendor. This access required the conversion of search criteria information contained in a COBOL copybook into a stream of well-formed XML and the forwarding of the XML stream for transmittal as a request.
(b) Modules then captured the resulting XML stream returned from the vendor, converted it from XML to COBOL copybook format and stored the credit information in DB2 tables for future access.

(c) Designed and coded CICS modules that invoked IBM DataStage to convert XML to COBOL and vice versa.
~ Utilized COBOL, CICS, Changeman, DB2, IBM Debugger, FILEAID, XML/XSD, etc in mainframe environment.
