Generic Transaction Server (GTS) is a generic interface between Mainframe systems and client applications. The entire GTS system comprises of two components namely, the GTS Hub and the GTS Transaction Server. GTS Hub is the component with which the client systems interact and the GTS Transaction Server is the component that interacts with the Mainframe systems.It is an access mechanism to host systems like CSS, COSMOSS, CAMSS and OPS which are all mainframe systems .The GTS system supports screen scrapping. GTS cannot be accessed directly by end users. It is an interface between Client Application and Main Frame Systems.The main objective of GTS is to read and write to the Mainframe Systems and read from the Mainframe systems to client Application. Hence the communication is bidirectional and activity is unidirectional.GTS consists of two layers. One is the GTS hub server and the other is transaction server. The hub server consists of oracle 9i Database .In Oracle Database; there are 4 schemas (GTS_USER, GTS_HUB, GTS_NCB, and GTS_MANAGER), two tables called Hub_In and Hub_Out. Request goes from client application to oracle database Hub_in table and hub application will pick from the Hub_in table. Hub logs will also be written in the C:Program FilesGTX_Hub. The Hub logs are Client, General and TX logs.One hub server connects to many Transaction servers. Minimum one transaction server has to be there for one hub server. The Transaction Server consists of MS Access Database. Load balancing is achieved through the transaction servers. If one transaction Server is not free, then request from one hub server goes to the transaction server which is free. After the request goes to transaction server the transaction server logs are written C:Program FilesTransaction Server. These logs confirm that the request has gone to them.Then sessions are established between transaction server and mainframe systems. The request then goes to the mainframe systems, get processed there .If fails then failure information will be written in logs.
