This project will deliver a POA (Point of Arrival) Global Dispute Management (GDM) application which will become a blueprint

for Global case management capability. This POA system will provide rules based end-to case servicing by standardizing and consolidating process across World Service by region, market, and communication channel into One Global state-of- the art .

The project is aimed at implementing the remaining Triumph DHS Business Rules (General, Industry RECON MR etc) to Enterprise Rules Optimization System (EROS) which resides within the SSP Portal (in the future to be American Express Servicing Portal, or AESP). These rules which currently reside in WinAres will be created in the more robust Rules Engine (PEGA PRPC) and they will be invoked upon identifying and selecting the transaction(s) to be disputed. Once complete the Customer Care Professional (CCP) will have the capability to complete the End-to-end Case Setup process in AESP without stepping out the Triumph DHS. Finally this capability will lay the foundation for Point of Arrival (POA) where all dispute cases will be housed and managed within the chosen POA Business Process Management (BPM) tool, Pega Rules and Processing Commander (PRPC) and the decommissioning of DHS from Triumph platform.

This DOT NET application is called DSP or Disputes Service Portal, known as LIFT MEMO - Dispute Handing System, was developed for the deployment on a Legacy Mainframe System in American Express which is based on IMS database with IMS screens. Legacy mainframe systems is one of the two major mainframes systems possessed by American Express to host all the card products for the domestic population located in the US.LIFT MEMO takes care of cards like Charge Cards, Corporate Cards and Optima Cards. Being a card holder, a person can come across many issues related to the transactions done using card. When a card member calls in and has an issue with one of the charges on this statement, A DISPUTE is created or set up in the portal through a telephone call or through a lettter or through the Internet. To handle these disputes in a timely manner, there are different screens. There are DISPUTE SETUP screens to set up different cases, DISPUTE MAINTENANCE screens to update and work on cases, and INVENTORY MANAGEMENT Screens. This system takes input from card member regarding charge details and finds out dispute reason/settle the dispute.Front End performs the tasks like case avoidance, automatic crediting and further processing for settling the issue and giving the case to back end for subsequent process.

American Express has two major mainframe systems which host all the card products for the domestic population located in the US. One mainframe is the Legacy System is based on IMS database with IMS screens on the Mainframe. The other mainframe is the Triumph system based on DB2 database with CICS screens on the mainframe. Amex has used the Legacy system for years and Triumph has been used about 6 to 7 years old. Both of them have Accounts Receivables and Dispute Management Applications running on them. The Legacy Dispute Management system is called LIFT MEMO. A dispute or a case (both are synonymous) is basically set up when a card member calls in and has an issue with one of the charges on his statement. A person could have cancelled an Airline ticket, but has not received the credit from the Airline; or could have ordered a camera over the Internet, but had not received it in mail; and so on. These scenarios will all end up in Disputes or cases LM takes care of Charge Card, Corporate Card and Optima Cards. Difference between Charge Card and Credit Card is that there is no choice of carrying forward the amount to be paid to the next month in case of Charge Cards.

The software is required to manage ideas given by various employees, evaluate ideas, categorize ideas into different types of Improvement Projects and finally manage these projects to completion. The ideas will be given by various employees, where based on location and function, the idea reaches to specific person for evaluation. The evaluation and categorization of idea will follow standard method. The idea can be rejected or can become a specific type of project (any of the 6 types). Project classified as DMAIC projects will need specific work flow, while all other types of project will be classified under Other Projects. Presently, only DMAIC is required to be managed separately, while in due course each project type will be treated separately like DMAIC.. One should be able to version the files uploaded. The measures need to be defined and tracked, where data is entered by team, which is converted into a line graph automatically. Relevant superiors should be able to intervene and one specific superior can only declare the project completed.
